Babymoon in Jenner

Greg took me away last weekend to Jenner for some rest and relaxation. I’ve been a little stressed w/everything there is to do for the arrival of Baby Brown. We had a wonderful time visiting the area where we married four years ago. We watched a sunset, spent the day at the beach, and ate lots of good food. I made my first purchases for Baby Brown at the flea market in Guerneville, a book I loved at a child, “The Animal Kids,” and an old copy of “Pinocchio.” I also got a good deal on two tie-dyed onesies. Since I got two for the price of one, Greg called them twosies! Ha!

My Favorite Pregnancy Books (so far….)

I know there are a million books out there to tell you what to expect when you’re pregnant, that tell you when your baby forms fingernails and eyelashes, that tell you what are good foods to eat and what to avoid. But for me, my favorite books are the ones that make me laugh or speak to me on a personal level. Here are some of my favs (so far….)

1. The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy by Vicki Iovine (given to me by my good friend Becky)
2. Yes, You’re Pregnant, But What About Me? By Kevin Nealon
3. Baby Love, Choosing Motherhood After a Lifetime of Ambivalence by Rebecca Walker
4. My current read that is really good, Yoga Mamas by Katherine Stewart
5. The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch (this really isn’t a pregnancy book, but the lessons in here about the author and his childhood taught me some thing about raising a child of my own)

PREGGIE PANIC AT COSTCO PARKING LOT HAS FORTUNATE ENDING
So, after shopping for over an hour at Costco yesterday, I set out for the car w/a cartload full of food. Only problem was, I couldn't find the car. I was pushing this oversized cart around the lot, looking and looking for the car. I know I parked in front of a tree, I know I locked it. But the car was lost, or stolen. I went into a panic. I went back inside, beckoned for security to help me. Please help me, I think my car was stolen! My heart raced, my insides tightened w/fear, my worry was in over-drive. What if the car was stolen? How would I get all this food home? Could I return everything I just bought? Costco security set out to look for my car. They asked me for the license plate number, but I couldn't remember. A manager-type lady enlisted Costco employees to look for the car. I told her I was pregnant and was stressed about my car. She told me she has worked there for 10 years, and no one's car was stolen, but lots of people forget where they parked. She kept saying, we'll find it, we'll find it. I didn't believe her. Greg is going to be so mad about this! I was going to start crying when one of the employees said they found it. "Does it have an Obama sticker on it?" Does it? I almost couldn't remember. But yes, it was our car. It was right where I left it, only I didn't remember where I parked and couldn't find it. Costco employees were so nice. They told me to pull the car to the store and they would load my groceries for me. I asked them if this happens a lot, and one guy said, "Almost every day." On the way home, Greg called to check on me. I burst into tears telling him I thought the car had been stolen and how I couldn't find it, I panicked and everything else. He calmed me down and helped me feel better. Lesson to be learned... do not go to Costco alone while pregnant. I need another person to make up for my lack of memory and basic brain functions.
