Boy or Girl? We find out tommorow.

Laura has her 20 week ultrasound tommorow. We'll hopefully find out the sex of the baby. Will it be a boy or a girl? Of course they also check to see if everything is okay with the baby, too. That's the first priority.

At first I was hoping for a boy. Boys just seem like more fun. Guy stuff. My sister Debbie always says, "Boys are easier to deal with, girls are difficult". Which I definately agree with when it comes to my family. I've got some difficult sisters...zing zing!

But I don't agree with "Girls are more difficult". I think it's how the kids are raised...not the sex of the child. So if it's a boy or a girl we'll love he or she unconditionally.

Name Voyager: The popularity of baby names

I found a cool website that explores the popularity of baby names through the years. It's at www.babynamewizard.com. What did we find out about our baby names? Well, they're not as popular as Ashley or Jacob....and that's a good thing.

The name Freddy peaked in the 1940's. It was ranked 341 in the 1940's according to the NameVoyager. In 2007 Freddy is ranked at 698.

The name Mabel was BIG in the 1800's. The name was ranked number 20 in popularity. Then as the 1900's went on it quickly lost its popularity. By the 1960's it wasn't even in the top 1000.

As for my name. It was BIG in the 1960's. Gregory ranked at 23. Laura was also popular in the 1960's. Ranked at 16.

It's a cool site. Where does your name rank?

Babymoon in Jenner

Greg took me away last weekend to Jenner for some rest and relaxation. I’ve been a little stressed w/everything there is to do for the arrival of Baby Brown. We had a wonderful time visiting the area where we married four years ago. We watched a sunset, spent the day at the beach, and ate lots of good food. I made my first purchases for Baby Brown at the flea market in Guerneville, a book I loved at a child, “The Animal Kids,” and an old copy of “Pinocchio.” I also got a good deal on two tie-dyed onesies. Since I got two for the price of one, Greg called them twosies! Ha!

My Favorite Pregnancy Books (so far….)

I know there are a million books out there to tell you what to expect when you’re pregnant, that tell you when your baby forms fingernails and eyelashes, that tell you what are good foods to eat and what to avoid. But for me, my favorite books are the ones that make me laugh or speak to me on a personal level. Here are some of my favs (so far….)

1. The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy by Vicki Iovine (given to me by my good friend Becky)
2. Yes, You’re Pregnant, But What About Me? By Kevin Nealon
3. Baby Love, Choosing Motherhood After a Lifetime of Ambivalence by Rebecca Walker
4. My current read that is really good, Yoga Mamas by Katherine Stewart
5. The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch (this really isn’t a pregnancy book, but the lessons in here about the author and his childhood taught me some thing about raising a child of my own)
